A while back Kelton was playing with my wedding ring and I explained to him that I wear it because I love Mommy. And similar for Mommy's ring. Well, today he went and found a rubber washer and put it on his finger, and told us he did it because he loves Mommy and Daddy. I guess he didn't want to be left out!Davidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15056051286747784672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10575810.post-51001654063769402252007-10-09T22:44:00.000-07:002007-10-10T15:46:36.458-07:00Boo-boo patch<!-- -->
You know those cold gel packs they make to keep swelling down? Well, we have one for Kelton as you might expect. The thing is, he won't let us put it on the actual boo-boo. It scares him too much.
But that doesn't mean he doesn't like it. In fact, every time he hurts himself, he calls out for "boo-boo patch" between sobs. We go to the freezer and retrieve it, and he clutches it Davidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15056051286747784672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10575810.post-68381057889872645612007-10-07T16:20:00.000-07:002007-10-07T21:36:10.733-07:00Cock-a-doodle-doo SlideCock-a-doodle-doo slide is a fun, twisty, enclosed slide in "Amit's Park", and it's especially fun since Daddy calls "cock-a-doodle-doo" from the bottom while Kelton is sliding down.

Kelton continues to be fascinated by all the "real" things Daddy uses, rather than his mere toys. Grabbing my glasses in the morning is a favorite. This photo is from months ago, but as you've probably noticed we're seriously behind with the blog postings. Here's hoping we catch up soon -- we have much to share from Christmas, Death Valley, the high Sierra, and other sundry activities.Davidhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15056051286747784672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10575810.post-30545543162487444962007-03-17T20:53:00.000-07:002007-07-29T22:04:04.339-07:00Riding the carouselKelton discovered the magic of riding the a carousel over our winter holidays. First he got to ride at Rodger Williams Park with his cousins when we visited Rhode Island. Kelton had a funny expression on his face and we thought he was scared of the ride. But when it stopped he was heart-broken and kept saying "More, more, more".
Kelton had his chance for more carousel a couple of days Lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16812450049068920914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10575810.post-84138239254438063662007-03-06T15:04:00.000-08:002007-03-06T15:47:10.200-08:00Christmas!!How could we forget Christmas? I guess, life in the New Year gets busy and we get behind on our holidays! Plus it was a bit complicated since we had Christmas 4 times this year. First was an early Christmas (Dec 22nd) at home in California since we were planning to fly to Rhode Island a few days ahead. But due to miserable air flight troubles we had our 2nd Christmas (Dec 25th) flying all dayLisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16812450049068920914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10575810.post-52839015298655349402007-03-06T14:42:00.000-08:002007-03-06T15:03:15.527-08:00A winter hike
On New Year's Day we went on a hike with Grandpa. Since we were in Ohio at the time it was cooooold.
Here we are all decked out in our winter gear, freezing while mommy takes the picture.
I had fun playing with a stick I found and, since we were hiking in an oak forest, I found a lot of acorns to pick up. I kept pretending to put the acorns in my mouth, while mommy kept saying, "only Lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16812450049068920914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10575810.post-84778480069685825692007-02-12T16:20:00.000-08:002007-02-12T16:24:04.347-08:00Painting
Painting at preschool is lots of fun. I like to put the paint on nice and thick. Sometimes daddy helps me with my paintings. Othertimes I do it myself and enjoy mixing the colors on the brush. When the brush feels too limiting, I like to just get my hands all covered in paint and make hand imprints on the paper. Mommy and daddy usually have quite a job cleaning me up after painting.

After his bath Kelton loves to streak down the hall and jump into mommy and daddy's bed. He gets under the covers, tucks himself in on my side and says, "Kelton naked mommy spot". When I tell him to close his eyes and go to sleep, he uses his fingers to close his eyes. Sometimes he gives his favorite animal, blue doggy, a good night kiss.

Maybe "It's Fall" is a strange title for a post created in the Christmas season, but it really feels like fall here in California. There are piles of leaves everywhere and the weather has turned cool and rainy. We bought Kelton a pair of very cute dinosaur rainboots which he adores. He loves to wear his "Dinos".
Kelton discovered the joys of running through piles of crunchy leaves.

At Roaring Camp after we rode the steam train, Dave and Kelton pretended to be the outlaw and his horse then they pretended to be the Sheriff and ticketmaster. There was also had a toddler sized barn. One of Kelton's favorite things to do is opening and shutting doors, he loved the barn.

This weekend we went to Roaring Camp in the Santa Cruz Mountains and rode a real steam engine train. It was a misty cool day and we had an hour long ride through the redwood forest up the mountain and back down. Kelton was amazed, scared and mezmerized by the train. The whistle is very loud and in the cool air it let off lots of steam. Chalk is wonderful since you can draw outside on any concrete area in the park just about as big as you want.
Kelton has also exercised his artistic feelings using natural media. Here he is sitting on the Baylands trail drawing semicircles with a pair of sticks. Recently he experimented with wet sand spatters at Pomponio beach.

Even the kitchen sink... Kelton has learned how to push a chair from the dinner table over to the sink and, with no small effort, climb up on it. He loves to play with the water and he gets very irate if I don't turn it on for him. Lately he's discovered that if you squeeze the sponge suds come out. Kelton got to use his little passport for the second time! We went to Cabo San Lucas Mexico for a friend's surprise 40th birthday party. We had a wonderful relaxing time. Mostly we snorkled or swam in the ocean or hung out in the house and enjoyed the pool and our group's marvolous cooking. The pool was especially fun for Kelton and his new friend Ava.

Unfortunately both of us were just getting over being sick, so we were a little tired, a bit cranky, and didn't get to go out. But I did put him in his costume after his nap and got a few photos. He thought the tail was pretty cool, but he wasn't too sure about the ears.

Trains
One beautiful fall day while Nana and Papa were visiting, we drove to the beach at Santa Cruz. When we were almost at the beach we saw railroad tracks running parallel to the road. Kelton noticed the tracks and kept asking for "more-more" train. As we drove along the tracks he got more and more upset at us for not providing a train. Since the kids aren't babies any longer, we've created a preschool-like morning. We still have free time to play, then we sing some songs followed by a snack. Finally, each week a different mom plans an activity. It's been a lot of fun. This fall Kelton started preschool! He goes once a week for 2 hours and since it's a parent co-op David and/or I go with him. He loves to go to school. He's learned to say school and gets excited when we get there. When Nana and Papa came to visit, we all went to school, and I was free to take some photos.
The structure of the day is simple. First the kids get about 45 min to play with Lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16812450049068920914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10575810.post-1161992432257328642006-10-27T16:36:00.000-07:002006-10-27T16:47:25.496-07:00Tioga Pass - Hat games
Kelton loves to play with our hats. His new game is to put on David's hat over his eyes and try to walk around. He thinks it's hilarious. Mommy gets a little concerned so we watch him closely as he staggers around.
He also loves the hat peek-a-boo get tickeled by Daddy hat game.

Kelton explored many aspects of the High Sierra on our trip. One of his favorites were two abandonded mining cabins. He spent almost 2 hours running around inside, looking out the windows, and peaking through knotholes in the walls. He also had a great time dropping rocks through knotholes in the floor.

The lakes and streams of the High Sierra are incredibly beautiful and clear. Kelton was as drawn to them as we were. He couldn't wait to stick his toes in and feel the water.
