We found a wonderful playground in Santa Barbara. There is also an amazing wooden structure with bridges and many paths.

After an arduous morning rock hounding, Weston and Brennan relaxed, eating cookies and watching Charlie Brown.

We found a wonderful kids playground in Santa Barbara. Weston and Brennan loved climbing the shark. There was also an enormous wooden castle with many bridges and paths.

Presidio In Santa Barbara

We learned a bit about the Spanish Fort in Santa Barbara. We inspected the canons, the chapel, what we'd look like as a soldier and wife and posed in front.

Cookies in bed!

This is the vacation life - chocolate chip cookies in bed after a long day of rock hounding. We found a lot of beautiful agates. What a treasure trove hidden in the hills.

We also visited the Early Man Archeology Site. Evidence that humans were making tools in the area 20,000 years ago.

Beach fun

We love California! At the beach in Santa Barbara this morning.

Dinner helper

Weston is my dinner helper tonight. He picked homemade Mac n cheese. We went to the store and bought what we needed, now. he's helping with all the stages to make it. Fun !

This morning we made our own puzzles. Fun and surprisingly challenging.

Building a telescope

Kelton and I built a refracting telescope just like Galileo's original telescope. We used 2 convex lenses, a cardboard tube, and a piece of black construction paper. It works amazingly well. Kelton was quite excited.

Adventures in homemade play dough

We made play dough at home. We put glitter,
coloring and scent in the dough. I used the lemon, like and orange cooking oils for scent. We are building fairy houses.

Geography

We used oranges to study latitude and longitude last week.

String art

We explored painting using strings soaked in liquid water colors. Neat idea.

Halloween

This year we had as Purple Puppy , a Scarey Skelton, and a Glowing Creeper. Kelton wore the Skelton costume the last couple of years and Weston was terrified of it. He loved to be the one inside the suit this year.
