Santa Cruz

Mom and Dad took me to Santa Cruz for the first time. We went for a nice walk along the harbor to the beach past a nifty lighthouse. I got to ride on Daddy's shoulders part of the way. See me up high wearing my first pair of shoes.

Then mommy took my shoes off and I got to play in the sand. I love the sand.

Daddy buried my legs in the sand, but I found these fun toes sticking out. And as you can see they got pretty sandy.

As much as I love the sand I dodn't enjoy getting it cleaned off my face....

Daddy built a little sand fort fort for me. Here's a sequence showing me escaping the fort.

I had such a fun day on the beach!

Halloween

IMG_0301 IMG_0289 IMG_0324

Kelton was a little monster for Halloween. I think I had more fun making his costume than he did wearing it, but he looked really cute. Google had an impressive Halloween party with lots of fascinating things for Kelton to see.

After the party we visited Dave's office and Kelton had lots of fun causing trouble. Here's the little monster trying to break into a Google conference room.

Once he got in he was busy inspecting under all the chairs. The two little white teeth are real.

In the Japanese Tea Garden

IMG_0033

We spent a lovely Sunday recently in San Francisco at the Japanese Tea Garden. Fall is so beautiful in a Japanese garden. Our visit reminded me of the October we spent a week in Kyoto. The weather was sunny and warm and the garden had a quiet, cool, damp feel to it. David and I had a great time taking pictures.

Kelton enjoyed being close with daddy and mommy.

But Kelton is getting more independent and wants to explore and touch everything on his own. He's also getting fast so we had to watch him closely or he would have gone for a swim in the Koi pond.

I think I still had the echo of our Japanese garden experience in my mind a week later when we went to Santa Cruz. I found a children's book of haiku, If Not for the Cat , and bought it for Kelton. He loves to look at the pictures while having daddy read it to him at bedtime.

A day in the park

We walked to the park on a nice sunny Saturday recently. Kelton got to try out the new style baby carrier. He seemed to approve and Mom found it easier on the back now that he's getting to be over 20 lbs.

The first stop at the park was the swings. Kelton loves to swing and he gets very excited when he sees them.

After the swings, we enjoyed hanging out in the sun on the large grassy field. It was perfect for practicing walking with Daddy's help, crawling around causing trouble, and best of all tackling Daddy.
